    ஒரு நாள் ஒரு வேடன் தன்னுடைய வலையை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு காட்டிற்குள் சென்றான் ஒரு அழகான பறவையைப் பிடித்து அதை சந்தையில் விற்று பணமாக்க அவன் விரும்பினான். நடந்து கொண்டிருந்த வேடன் திடீரென்று பலமான ஒரு சத்தத்ததைக் கேட்டான். ஆஹா, என்ன ஒரு பெரிய சத்தம்! இவ்வளவு பெரிய சத்தம் வருகிறது என்றால் அந்த சத்தம் போடும் பறவை மிகவும் பெரியதாகத்தான் இருக்கும் என்று அந்த வேடன் நினைத்தான்.

    முன்னி மானும் திக்கு மானும் இதைக் கண்டன. உடனே அவை அப்புவைப் பார்க்க விரைந்தன.

    “அப்பு, எங்கள் கிளி நண்பர்கள் ஒரு வேட்டைக்காரனால் பிடிபட்டுவிட்டன. அந்த கிளிகளை நாம் காப்பாற்ற வேண்டும்’ என்று அவை அப்புவிடம் கூறின.

    அப்பு வேகமாக உயரப் பறந்தது. ‘நான் அவனை விரைவில் கண்டுபிடிக்க வேண்டும்” என்று நினைத்தது.

    அந்த குரங்கு உடனே ஒரு கல்லை கையில் எடுத்துக் கொண்டது. வேகமாக ஓடிச் சென்று ஒரு மரத்தில் ஏறி கிளைகளுக்குள் ஒளிந்து கொண்டது.

In the Stone Age most clothing was made of leather, fur, or woven grasses. They made their clothes by skinning animals’ fur and clothing was probably more than just animal’s skin tunics.
